Clarke Schmidt To Open Season On IL; Carlos Carrasco To Make Roster

New York Yankees starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt will open the season on the IL. Schmidt is building up stamina after being shut down due to right shoulder soreness.
Schmidt\'s absence will lead to Carlos Carrasco making the roster out of Spring Training. Carrasco has tallied a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings during Spring Training.
Reliver Ian Hamilton will also start the season on the IL for the Yankees. Starter Gerrit Cole will miss the entire season due to Tommy John surgery. Starter Luis Gil will miss the first two months of the season due to a lat strain.
