The New York Yankees will have Aaron Judge play designated hitter when he returns from the disabled list with his right flexor strain. The Yankees hope Judge can resume throwing in 10 to 14 days to resume his availability in the outfield. In the meantime, the Yankees will not consider using Judge at first base.
Judge played first base in high school and has worked out at first base during spring training in recent years.
Giancarlo Stanton will work out in the outfield to become an option there. Stanton hasn\'t played in the outfield since 2023.
\"There\'s the feeling that if he just DH\'d now, that he probably would not compromise his UCL,\" Aaron Boone said. \"Obviously, throwing would. That said, there is a gripping component to it and it\'s probably, obviously, not like the defensive side, but probably somewhat affecting him offensively, too.
\"And then there\'s the [Giancarlo] component, too. So I think, when you add it all up, this makes the most sense to give this time to calm down a little bit, hopefully heal and then hopefully put us in a better position long term on it.\"
