Pete Alonso and the Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a five-year, $155 million deal, which is the highest annual average value for a first baseman.
Alonso had 38 homers and an .871 OPS last season with the New York Mets. Alonso re-signed with the Mets last offseason on a two-year, $54 million deal that had an opt-out for this winter.
The Mets were reportedly reluctant to offer more than three seasons to Alonso, who is 31 years old. Alonso is represented by Scott Boras.
