2025 NFL Draft Labeled \'Weak\' In Top-End Talent By Multiple Execs

The upcoming 2025 NFL Draft is being widely assessed as unusually weak in elite talent, with multiple team executives expressing concern about the quality of prospects available in the top-10 selections.

\"I don\'t recall seeing a draft that was so light in the first 10 picks,\" one general manager told The Athletic, reflecting a sentiment that appears widespread throughout league front offices. This evaluation has prompted significant interest in trade-down scenarios among teams currently positioned in the top-10.

Talent evaluators have indicated that prospects projected for the top-10 in this draft class would typically be available much later in stronger draft years.

One league source specifically noted, \"Picks 4, 5, 6 and 7 can get the same player at 20 that they can get at their current slots,\" highlighting the unusual flat talent curve in this year\'s class.

While quarterback Cam Ward, defensive back/receiver Travis Hunter, and linebacker Abdul Carter are considered the consensus top three prospects, even Ward lacks the high floor typically associated with quarterbacks selected first overall in previous drafts.

Several teams holding top-10 selections have already engaged in preliminary trade discussions, with only the Tennessee Titans reportedly committed to keeping their current draft position. These trade talks are expected to intensify as Thursday\'s first round approaches.

\"There\'s not a ton of touchdown makers, star corners or QBs, but it\'s all about the lines of scrimmage in this draft,\" another general manager explained to his scouting department, suggesting teams might prioritize offensive and defensive line talent in a class lacking elite skill position players.
