Shawne Merriman is back home after being hospitalized for a reported "medical emergency".
The Los Angeles Times reported that Merriman overdosed and ingested an unspecified combination of alcohol and drugs while at The Colony nightclub.
NFL Network's Akbar Gbajabiamila communicated with Merriman via text message early Monday morning. Merriman told Gbajabiamila he was headed home from the hospital.
