Manziel May Have Better NFL Future Due To Evolution Of Position

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Sep 20, 2013 11:49 pm

Johnny Manziel isn't viewed as a conventional NFL prospect at quarterback historically, but he may be aligned with where the position is moving.

"Nowadays, you have to be special as a pocket passer to get away with being just that," said one area scout. "It's essential to have mobility to make it. I know he's 5-foot-11, 6-foot, but I believe, with the way the league is going, with the success of the mobile quarterback, if he can grow up and study and work, he can be successful."

Manziel has average arm strength, but above average accuracy and excellent athleticism. His biggest issue is his size.

I think he could make it, but I don't see him making first round like many assume he will to the Browns. I believe a Pac-12 QB is more likely to get a starting position next year out of anyone.
