Get a clue Alex. If you screw up this thing in KC over money there aren't any other jobs out there for you. Better sign whatever extension they put in front if you. Youve got millions already. No need to stick it to KC if you really wanna rid yourself of the bust label. Might find your way outta NFL if you don't get your head right.
It's not money, it's length. He signed a team friendly (and market value) contract in SF and was easily escapable (could have cut before April 1 without cost). Ended up having to be at the mercy of SF in the trade (got to go to his choice but won't be guaranteed if so in KC). I think he'll sign a team friendly deal after we don't pick a QB in the first four rounds. Otherwise, he'll play out this year if he doesn't get a commitment (more money guaranteed or per year). He can compete/earn the job, but he wants to know what the FO is thinking because he was replaced in SF when he won the competition, was first rated in the NFL, and winning. The Chiefs obviously have not and will not offer a commitment he can't refuse before the draft. I think the deal be small in total but the guaranteed to be higher than anyone expected. The guaranteed might be roster bonuses in future years as opposed to fully guaranteed.
As for the Chiefs' side, I believe that it's better for trade value for people to think that Cincinnati is going to pick a quarterback than people thinking that we're going to get a quarterback. However, it can't hurt for people not to know what to do. If Alex's agent is asking for too much, it is good to wait and have this as leverage. But I don't think that his agent is biting on the leverage.
