Steve Smith Sr. broke four ribs during the Baltimore Ravens' win on Thursday over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Smith's injury is believed to only be a short-term concern.
Smith vowed revenge on Mike Mitchell, a former teammate who gave him the big hit.
"The best thing I can do without threatening him and saying that I will assault him when I see him," Smith said after the game, "is I will say I look forward to playing him again. He's on my lifetime hit list."
