The San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos have agreed to the parameters of a trade involving Colin Kaepernick.
The Broncos are willing to pay $7 million of Kaepernick's salary, but Denver and Kaepernick would like the 49ers to pay the remaining $4.9 million.
The 49ers have been unwilling, believing they shouldn't have to pay for a player they would like to keep on their roster.
A high-level source says "it would take two seconds" for the teams to finalize the proposed deal.
The draft compensation involved in the deal is a non-issue, as it will be a mid-round pick.
Adding to the pressure, the 49ers' offseason voluntary workout program starts Monday, and Kaepernick has a $400,000 offseason workout bonus for 90 percent attendance.
