Packers Agree To Sign Martellus Bennett

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Mar 11, 2017 12:28 am

Martellus Bennett has agreed to sign with the Green Bay Packers.

The Patriots acquired Bennett in a trade with the Chicago Bears last March and inherited the final year of his contract, which called for a 2016 base salary of $5.085 million. The sides had discussed extending the contract through 2017 at the time, but couldn't come to an agreement.

In late February, Gronkowski said of Bennett, "I'm hoping that he breaks the bank. Whenever you see a tight end break the bank, it's good for the industry, it's good for the position. You want to see the position grow."

The Packers will not bring back Jared Cook at tight end.

Great pick up! That will give Rodgers a huge target that can block well. This is huge. The Packers needed a boost to their TE core.
SELL THE TEAM, JIM!!! :curse:

He bought in to the Patriot way, I liked him and he played with injuries all season long. Was close to winning the super bowl before James White scored the touch down. But he is replaceable.

Let's see how he will fit with a POS like Rodgers, won't be surprised if he beat the crap out of him in practice or in the locker room.
