Jets 'Definitely Not' Tanking For No. 1 Pick

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Sep 21, 2017 12:21 am

Christopher Johnson insists the New York Jets are "definitely not" tanking this season.

Johnson is Jets chairman and CEO with older brother Woody now serving as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom for President Donald Trump.

The Jets have been perceived by some as sacrificing wins this season in attempts at securing a higher draft pick in 2018.

Sam Darnold is considered the probable first overall pick and would give the Jets a franchise level quarterback.

Darnald may be presumtive #1 Pick, but not if Jets have that pick. He's already stated he might not declare for Draft and IF Jets have that pick might stay at USC,IMHO. Best case scenario for Jets is for them to,if they really want him, have #3 Pick then Trade with whomever has #1. That way Darnald makes his move first since Draft Positions are made/known before Draftees need to declare

Jets have tanked so hard that they will be the worst team in the league for this year and next year, so either way, Sam is going to be a Jet.

Why would any person in their right mind wait a year if they are going to go number 1. If he is the number 1 pick he's coming out. It would be beyond dumb and risky to not come out just because of the Jets.

He never said that. There was speculation that he MIGHT stay in school another year, but nothing that suggested he'd do it because of the Jets. That's utterly asinine. #1 picks always go to bad teams. That's how it works and how they rebuild. Nobody's going to avoid the draft on purpose just because the team there isn't good. LOL. What if he gets hurt or has a down year? Then he would have cost himself tens of millions.
SELL THE TEAM, JIM!!! :curse:

I hate when this happens. When causal fans and/or the media gets hold of a word they run it into the ground Lol

'Tanking' is nothing more than playing young players. That has been going on for decades.

Its not always this sinful thing. Actually it rarely is. If the Jets have an expensive and old roster and end up 4-12, of COURSE they should get rid of all the overpriced guys and let the youngsters get burn. Call it tankign if you want, but its smart.

Look no further than what Brandon Marshall is doing...the same Marshall that fans screamed OMG HOW COULD YOU LET HIM GO!!!"
