Sammy Watkins Confused About Role In Rams Offense

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Oct 10, 2017 12:21 pm

Sammy Watkins was targeted just four times in last week's loss to the Seattle Seahawks and caught one pass for the Los Angeles Rams.

Watkins often asked for the ball more while with the Buffalo Bills. He hasn't been featured on offense by the Rams despite the price they paid to acquire him from Buffalo late in training camp.

"Sammy's a player that, he wants to be involved," Sean McVay said. "You never know when your opportunity is going to come, but let's just make sure that snap in and snap out, you continue to compete and contribute to the best of your ability."

Watkins has 14 catches for 211 yards and two touchdowns this year.

The wide receiver has taken a passive aggressive approach to his role. He's been retweeting messages that encourage the Rams to give him a larger role.

Last week, Watkins admitted he handled a similar situation in Buffalo poorly, when he asked for 10 targets a game.

"Two years ago, it would've probably been different," Watkins said. "I would've probably gone to the media and been saying whatever, trying to get the coach's attention. That's how I used to do it back then. Like, 'I need more targets.' Then that comes to the coach, and me and him have to talk."

Sammy Watkins gave one of the worst efforts I've ever seen from a WR last week. He was constantly quitting on routes and has no room to complain here. How about you run a route hard and Goff will get you touch. I'm also not a Rams fan so I really don't care but you can see Watkins not playing hard which was annoying to watch.
