Patriots, Rob Gronkowski Aren't Close To New Deal

A new contract agreement between the New England Patriots and Rob Gronkowski isn't close.

"Nothing is imminent," according to a source.

Gronkowski is due to make $8 million this year.

I love how in the NFL players can sign a contract and then not commit to it.

It's because they're getting absolutely shafted. Even the highest paid players in the NFL aren't making as much as they actually deserve. After all these deals going on in the NBA, I don't blame any NFL players for reconsidering their contracts.

You would think with the short career windows and violent nature of the game that NFL players would make more than any other sport. Especially given the NFL grosses a ridiculous amount of revenue. If the contracts were fully guaranteed, I think it would be a different story.
