Owners Reject Replacing Onside Kick With One Play from Scrimmage

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Mar 26, 2019 8:20 pm

NFL owners have rejected a proposal to replace the onside kick with one play from scrimmage. The idea was to enact a one-year trial of a fourth-and-15 play from the offense\'s 35-yard line to replace the onside kick.

Onside kicks are considered one of football\'s more dangerous plays.

The competition committee recommended the play by a vote of 7-1, but the owners still rejected it.

As a fan I'm also against the change because the defense would just sit back in coverage, then there might be a pass interference penalty, then that penalty (now) will probably be reviewed. And the next thing you know it's a 10+ minute ordeal.
