Myles Garrett Excited By \'More Freedom\' Under New DC

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 3, 2019 12:24 pm

Myles Garrett is coming off a 13.5-sack season, but he\'s excited to make more of a difference under new Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Steve Wilks.

Garrett was largely limited to two moves under previous coordinator Gregg Williams.

\"I hopefully have more freedom to be the player I want to be,\" Garrett said. \"Gregg was more like: \'You win with these two moves. I don\'t want to see anything else out of you.\'

\"It\'s kind of hard with two moves. I feel like you can\'t always be so predictable. You can be as strong or fast as you want, but speed-chop and power move aren\'t always going to work. You have to mix up what you\'re doing. Sometimes you have to stutter step, sometimes you have to spin inside, you have to run some games. You have to have some freedom to throw different looks at them, and we didn\'t always have that.\"

I'd love to see Williams coach/fight in MMA with this philosophy - "only jab to the head and leg kick - no takedowns, no uppercuts, no jiu-jitsu."

Is there a reason he was limited to 2 moves only? Seems idiotic to me. Wtf was Williams thought process for this?
