XFL May Not Test For Marijuana

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 8, 2019 12:10 pm

The XFL would prefer not to test players for marijuana, says commissioner Oliver Luck.

Luck told Sports Illustrated that he isn\'t sure if such a policy would make players suspended for marijuana use eligible to play in the XFL.

Could make Josh Gordon the face of the league if he's not going to be punished for it (assuming he decided to join).

XFL is smart. Suspending players over their personal past times is dumb, especially when it is now legal in multiple states recreationally and medically in even more of them. It's like suspending people for drinking alcohol during their free time. Weed is not the demon that it has been projected as. This ain't the 20s anymore. People need to grow up and this is a good sign.

The NFL shouldn’t either. Especially when the real problems are often alcohol and other drugs. Cannabis should even be prescribed to help players reduce inflammation / CTE.
