Jerry Jones Believes He Could Sell Cowboys For $10B

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue May 17, 2022 12:45 pm

Jerry Jones believes he could get $10 billion for the Dallas Cowboys if he decided to sell the franchise.

Jones said, however, that he would not entertain such an offer, insisting that he \"will never sell the Cowboys\" as long as he remains owner.

The Denver Broncos are currently for sale and there are reports the franchise could go for a record $5 billion.

\"Let me make this very clear,\" Jones told Peter King. \"I\'ll say it definitively. I will never do it. I will never sell the Cowboys. Ever.\"

most of the value of those NFL teams come from the tax payer funded stadiums they play in.

Forbes rated the Cowboys at 6.5B after 2021. 10B is probably a little high, but he's probably not nuts.

Doesn't matter if the Cowboys blow, they're a brand that can withstand that and can be marketed to anyway. Really the question would be if there is anyone rich enough that wants to buy them, because 10B isn't going to be a sound business investment most likely, so you need to find someone who wans a personal stake.

However, 5B+ might be in sound business investment territory.

So if he sells, he would no longer be the owner, and then he'd be willing to sell. got it. :D

Nowadays, most of the value comes from the tax write off. You can depreciate 90% of the purchase price. Depending on the tax rate you're paying on the income you offset (including team earnings), that can save you 40%. That's 36% of the cost of buying the team offset over 15 years.

But stadiums are definitely up there as a major redistribution of wealth from the middle class to billionaires.
