The San Francisco 49ers have hired Steve Wilks as their new defensive coordinator, according to sources.
The Houston Texans hired former DC DeMeco Ryans away from the 49ers last week.
Wilks was the Carolina Panthers\' defensive passing game coordinator and secondary coach before being promoted to interim head coach upon Matt Rhule\'s firing.
