Sixteen teams were in support of a ban of the tush push, but the Green Bay Packers\' proposal fell short of the 24 needed to enact a rule change. The topic is likely to be revisited when owners gather for their spring meeting May 20-21 in Eagan, Minnesota.

The Buffalo Bills were the only other team beyond the Philadelphia Eagles that used it regularly last season, and they combined to call 65 of the 101 tush push runs in 2024.

Committee chairman Rich McKay said last week, and reiterated Tuesday, that the league generally frowns on rule changes that target only one or two teams. The NFL prohibited players to push ball carriers for much of its history before changing its rules to allow it in 2005, citing the difficulty of officiating it. 

Nick Sirianni said the team coaches its tush push play no differently than standard quarterback sneaks.

\"I think it\'s an exciting play,\" Sirriani said Tuesday. \"It was really cool to hear some people talk about it this week and what they think of it, the excitement it brings to the game.\"

Barcs wrote:It's stupid to ban the move just because one team does it so well. It's not like it's guaranteed and if you don't like the Tush Push, then simply play better defense and don't allow 3rd or 4th and 1s.

If they ban Tush push, then they should ban all QB sneaks and not because of an unfair advantage, because it risks the health of the QB. The second Jalen Hurts gets hurt on one of those plays it vanishes forever.

Currently, as McKay pointed out, the offense is allowed to push, something defensive players are prohibited from doing.
