Browns, Giants Fielding Trade Calls For No. 2, No. 3 Draft Picks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Apr 22, 2025 3:19 pm

The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants have received multiple trade inquiries regarding their early first-round picks in this week\'s NFL draft, according to ESPN\'s Peter Schrager.

While the Tennessee Titans are not entertaining offers for the first overall selection as of Tuesday morning, sources confirmed that both the Browns (No. 2) and Giants (No. 3) have fielded calls over the past 48 hours and are considering these overtures.

Teams looking to trade up to these premium slots are primarily targeting three prospects: Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter, Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter, or Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, according to sources.

This development marks a potential breakthrough in what has been an unusually quiet pre-draft trade market. With just two days remaining until Thursday\'s first round, this draft represents the longest period without any trades involving first-round picks in the common draft era (since 1967), according to ESPN Research.

Both Cleveland and New York face quarterback uncertainties but have been widely projected to address other positions with their high selections. ESPN draft analysts Mel Kiper Jr. and Jordan Reid have both predicted the Browns to select Hunter at No. 2 and the Giants to take Carter at No. 3 in their most recent mock drafts.

Hunter, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, played nearly 1,500 combined snaps on offense and defense for Colorado last season, demonstrating the versatility that has made him a coveted prospect.

\"I put it in the context of, like, he\'s kind of the Shohei Ohtani of football,\" Browns general manager Andrew Berry said last week regarding Hunter. \"He\'s worth a top pick in the draft.\"

\"We would not be afraid to play him on both sides of the ball,\" Giants GM Joe Schoen added about Hunter, indicating the high regard teams have for the two-way star.
