Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers are moving closer to an agreement on a long-term contract extension, according to sources familiar with the negotiations. The deal is expected to place Purdy among the top-10 highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL based on average annual value.
Purdy has already reported for the 49ers\' organized team activities (OTAs), which is a signal on how the ongoing contract discussions are progressing.
Purdy threw for 3,864 yards in the 2024 season, tallying 20 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. Purdy had a 67.9 QBR, ranking seventh among NFL quarterbacks.
Purdy\'s 2024 campaign was particularly notable as he played significant portions of the season without star weapons Brandon Aiyuk and Christian McCaffrey. His ability to maintain productivity despite these absences helped silence critics who questioned whether his success was primarily due to the talent surrounding him.
