Abdul Carter is struggling to be assigned a number after being selected third overall by the New York Giants in the 2025 NFL draft. Carter had interest in wearing No. 56, but Lawrence Taylor opted not to make his retired number available to him.

Phil Simms was open to letting Carter wear No. 11, which the Penn State pass rusher wore at Penn State. But the former Giants\' quarterback was overruled by his family. 

\"I told some of my friends and people around me, \'I\'d let him have it in a second. Can you just help it a little or make it better?\'\" Simms said. \"I think it would be a lot of fun. It wouldn\'t bother me.\"

\"Damn at this point imma be out there with just my last name on my jersey, no number,\" wrote Carter on X.

Giants got no class. It shouldn't even be a conversation to unretire numbers. Why do these new players have zero respect for the legends that built the franchise? They shouldn't have given the # to Nabers and they should NOT give a retired number to Carter. These Gen Z are so entitled it's insane!! Who the F cares what number you have? Build your own legacy with your own number. What an idiot.
