The Kings placed center Mike Richards on waivers Monday, according to an ESPN.com report.

The Kings, according to sources, tried to find a taker via the trade route over the past month, talking to Toronto, Calgary and Winnipeg among other teams, but couldn't get a deal done.

What in the hell happened to Richards? He, not that long ago, was an All-Stat caliber player. Loved him on the Flyers until he and Carter went off the deep end together. Did the same thing happen in LA? Did they have to jettison him to keep Carter in check? And Richards is gonna get picked up, right? He's not washed up already, is he? Lots of questions and no answers.
