The Bruins have fired GM Peter Chiarelli after missing the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons.
The Bruins announced Chiarelli's firing in a statement Wednesday, saying that the move was "necessary in order to ensure sustainable success for the club both in the short term and the long term."
