John Tortorella Blasts Report On Reason Behind Cutter Gauthier Trade

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jan 11, 2024 6:13 am

Philadelphia Flyers coach John Tortorella lashed out at a beat reporter during his postgame news conference Wednesday night, questioning a report surrounding the trade of top prospect Cutter Gauthier on Monday.

Gauthier told Flyers general manager Danny Briere that he didn\'t want to play in Philadelphia or for the Flyers. Unable to sign Gauthier, Philadelphia traded the Boston College star to Anaheim on Monday for defenseman Jamie Drysdale.

It's funny, because Torts himself almost certainly was a key reason Gauthier wanted out. The kid sees what Torts does to the younger players on the Flyers.

The crotchety old man routine is only funny when you yourself are doing it. Anyone else doing it, and it sucks.

So you're saying that he's essentially the Doc Rivers of the NHL?

Torts is like current Popovich, minus the five previous titles that give him the leeway to be a d***.
