Igor Shesterkin turned down the New York Rangers\' eight-year, $88 million offer to become the highest-paid goaltender in NHL history, sources told ESPN\'s Kevin Weekes.
The deal would have surpassed the eight-year, $84 million deal that former Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price signed in 2017.

That’s stupid. He’s like the third or fourth best goalie in the league, and he wants more money than the biggest G contract in league history??
Don’t know who’s giving it to him. If I’m the Rangers I don’t budge from that offer and I might go down slightly from here.

Welp, Rangers are screwed. I was worried about this exact scenario. The money he wants is going to be way too much and we're not going to be able to afford him. I already regret buying his jersey as he'll be gone in a year.
