Jonathan Toews will sign with the Winnipeg Jets on a one-year deal when NHL free agency opens. Toews, who led the Chicago Blackhawks to three Stanley Cups, will return to the NHL after missing the past two seasons dealing with inflammatory and immune system issues.
The Jets are the reigning Presidents Trophy winners, but were ousted in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs by the Dallas Stars.
Toews has ramped up training over the last several months in preparation for an NHL comeback.
