This NBA Cup gimmick offers me ZERO increased enjoyment of the NBA.

Agree, at least with me. I just don't have any interest, though it is talked about constantly.
Also, just my opinion, but the courts/floors are bush league. Feels like an NIT game. Adam Silver may be a great profit/loss guy..he's done zilch to make me care more.
