Roy Hibbert is 7' 2" and averages 7.8 REB... He's not even an all-star IMO

Why Dwight instead of Howard? Juwan Howard retired a couple of years ago... Dwight Howard is the only one left.

Aldrige is probably the biggest surprise - although its hard to choose between him, Griffin and Love...they are all playing amazing, he will be a reserve without a doubt :)

Hibbert will be a perennial all star as time goes on....he's key on a very good team.

LaMarcus is insanely surprising. Should be Durant and LaMarcus in the frontcourt.

Based on standings and performance, Aldridge should have been a clear choice between Love and Griffin. But this league is all about making money, so they opted to get more ratings by choosing Griffin. Love is a crowd favorite, but with the way his team is playing, he doesn't deserve an all-star spot.

It's pretty clear that all-star votes are based on favoritism and players who draw TV ratings. It hasn't been about how players are performing for a long time now. Dwight should not be an all-star based on his performance this year and his team's overall standing out west. He's a crowd favorite, that's all it is. And coaches vote the vets to fulfill their long time status as perennial all-stars in the league.

Why do you think Kobe was chosen to play given his injury status?

To say that Blake didn't deserve to make the All Star game is ridiculous. Right now he is #7 in the race the the MVP. http://www.nba.com/mvp-ladder/
The All-Star starters are voted in by the fans, as it should be.

And according to that MVP ladder Aldridge is 3rd in the MVP race.

My thoughts exactly. Clearly fans only vote based on who their favorite players are and not entirely based on how players are performing. If it was based on performance and how they're affecting the team's standings, Aldridge would have been a clear vote in and would be in the same light as Durant and Lebron.

Harden is obviously the biggest snub that is obvious....He is the best player at his position....I would take Kevin Love on my team any day of the week over Blake or Aldridge...He is by far the best rebounder...plays just as well in the post...the best shooter....and he may not be the best defender but he is a good team defender and he plays hard and bangs around hard in the paint

what the hell? kyle lowry won't even be a reserve. is realgm full of raptors fan? how does he get 5% more than the most deserving Guard John Wall and 3% more than the best center in the league? wow. i mean one could consider him as a reserve but a snub as a starter? no way. if someone on the raptors makes the all star team its gonna be derozan btw.

Half the starters are on crap teams....Like always.

Popularity and Stats = Everything

Everyone saying Klay Thompson should be an all-star cause most 3's in the league...I remember last year when Foye was at top with the 3's and the NBA didn't even consider him for 3 point shoot out let alone even think about it!

I would go with John Wall too because the all-star game is more about hype, flash and marketing than it is about winning ball games.

That said, if you wanted to take the player thats actually played better overall this year, you could certainly make the case for Lowry considering he's been way more efficient, better defensively and plays on the better team. Lowry is the engine that has made the Raptors hum to 16-7 record since Gay's departure....not Derozan.

In terms of advanced stats Lowry blows Wall out of the water with a .575 TS% vs Wall's platry .522 and .205 WS/48 which is all star level vs Wall's .135. Both player sport a 20 PER. The only real edge Wall has on Lowry is PPG but that because he chucks 5-6 more shots every game to get 4 extra points. I've never been a fan of low efficiency, high usage Point Guards.

The starters are voted in by fans... it always was and always will be a popularity contest. The NBA didnt start Griffin to give them ratings, the fans voted him in.

you seriously hating on Dwight? the Rockets are just a few games behind the 3rd spot in the west in an extremely competitive conference. Dwight single handedly turned them into an elite defensive team (he isnt getting any help from Lin or Harden on that end). Not to mention he averages 18 & 12 while shooting almost 60% from the field.

Dwights actually playing at a similar level as Aldridge. Aldrige scores 6 more points a game...but takes 10 more shots a game. Howard is a better rebounder and a much better defender. The Blazers have a slightly better record, but they also have a supporting cast.

I would not be surprised at all if Howard doesn't even make the all-star team. The West has too many good players.

Doesn't he play with PB in the same line up more than with Lin? Doesn't PB start because his good defense? :o

If love wasn't on the wolves, you may as well shut down target center. Aldrige aint grabbing boards and knocking down threes.

PB has missed a singificant amount of games ( i think 20?). And regardless of who he is on the court with, I was posting team stats, not just when Dwight was on the floor, so even if Lin isnt playing with Dwight its hurting the team D.
