Can we please stop talking about this guy until his team wins some games. There is no excuse for the Cavs being this bad for this long after multiple #1 draftpicks the past few years. The fact that this guy is an All Star is just a joke.

If he re-signs, he'll ask for a sign and trade. Clearly the "system" in Cleveland is polluted with low IQ-bearing decision makers.

it has nothing to do with bird rights or the cavs having major off the court problems. its simple as this. he wants to win. he hasn't in 3 years. other then winning a 3pt competition and making the starter for the allstar game which he is only starting because rose is injured and rondo is just now getting back isn't a high reward. I think he will chose the lakers before going back to the cavs. I didn't know they where that bad. its nothing going on good over there.

He's not eligible for a sign and trade till 2015 free agency. I see him playing out his contract and signing a qualifying offer before hitting unrestricted free agency in 2016. it's very rare for superstar players to go this route but irving's situation is so bad it may be his only option. If he signs a qualifying offer he can't be traded in the 2015-16 season. The last two players that went through this route were david lee and ben gordon who each played out their qualifying offers and cashed on fat contracts as ufas making up the money they lost by not signing the early bird extension. The only way irving may sign an extension with the cavs is if he is eligible for the rose rule and an extra 15M on top of his 80M max deal which is a lot of money to leave on the table especially with his injury history. He's elgible for it if he wins an mvp or is voted in as an allstar starter twice or selected for the all-nba team twice. He was voted a starter this year so he is half way there.

Cavs are a sad excuse for a franchise dating back as far as time, and the only reason they are talked about is because they suck so bad that they happen to get 2 all stars. Outside that, they are nothing.

The only other who I would say sucks as bad is Bucks, and probably Magic.

No matter how bad it gets, no player coming off a rookie contract ever passes up a max contract extension. Does that mean he won't ask for a trade once he gets his max contract? Well, that's an entirely different story.
