Haha that's putting it wayyy too nicely. I like Steve Kerr, and I think he'd be dumb to turn down a head coaching position, especially for Phil Jackson, but at the same time... it's the Knicks.. and Dolan.

Effective head coach? Yes. Good coach for the Knicks? No. The Knicks need a coach like Phil, Doc Rivers, or anyone with respectable championship experience to put guys in their place. They have no leadership, and as much as I like Steve Kerr, a brand new and unproven coach will not help at all.

Good points all around.

He is the most insightful caster on TNT now adays. If Mark Jackson could make a good coach, Steve Kerr definitely will be.

ummmm mark jackson isnt a good coach. with a roster like that and an improved bench, they should be doing way better than last year. if u watch warrior games, you'll see the kind of plays he draws up which is pretty much screen for klay/curry and chuck 3s. he doesnt know how to use iggy thats why iggy is scoring below 10 ppg and harrison barnes, who is quite talented, is not flourishing under mark jackson. his out of bounds plays are pretty sub par and the players bail him out like the gsw vs pacers game about a week ago, mark jackson closing play with 8 seconds left on the clock was klay thompson iso post up.... although klay did make it, that wasnt a great play selection from mark given the situation. the team's defense is also very inconsistent. btw i'm from SF and i've been a warriors fan for a very long time since before they drafted adonal foyle. i was very siked and excited these last 2 years to see the drastic improvements to the roster but rather disappointed at seeing no progression with mark jackson's coaching skills. if he is considered a "good" coach, it makes u wonder why he needs the help of so many assistant coaches.

Regarding steve kerr, its hard to say if he'll make a good coach. you can be insightful, you can be knowledgeable, you could have been a great player but once you get into the hot seat, everything is different (jason kidd). he does have a good bball IQ as an analyst/commentator but that and coaching are 2 different things. ultimately coaching exp is the issue.

Steve Kerr would make a very good coach on a rebuilding squad. He will need to implement a philosophy with coachable young guys - they are much easier to mould.

I have my doubts about his capabilities in coaching a squad like the Knicks - a lot of veterans who have been through diverse situations. They have also had to go through the D'Antoni phase, and bringing in a new guy with zero experience is yet another low blow. Not a good move if they want to keep Melo I think.

Stop trying to judge coaches. Nobody knows how good or bad a coach is. Even the players on the team will have different opinions. So how would any of us know? Or any media members? Nobody knows.

You have no idea whether Steve Kerr will be an effective head coach. So what if he's a good analyst. That means next to nothing.

You have no idea if Mark Jackson is a good coach or not. What is your criteria? You have none.

By watching them? So you judge a coach by how well he stands during the game? So he's a great coach if he leans against the scorer's table and a bad one if he doesn't. If he yells at the refs he's good, but if he just sits down he's bad. Oh yeah, how could I forget about the sideline interviews between quarters. Yeah, of course.
