you want to know why raptors fans feel the way we do? it's cause of stuff like this... always not even being acknowledge by a poll, no christmas game, no national coverage. call it inferiority complex if you want, but this stuff is real.

cavaliers doesnt have anything outside of lebron. if he walks, cavs are a lottery team. they dont even have a coach. and yet they're in this poll. but raptors, they are playing a team game, their bench is deep, only lowry is over 30 (ibaka questionable), asset in OG, poeltl, wright, we get billed under "other". i dont think we have the best collection of assets, but they are top 5 team in the league and they just got brushed over like that.

1. Warriors
2. Cavaliers
3. Celtics
4. Rockets
5. Spurs
6. Thunder
7. Wizards
8. Timberwolves
9. Bucks
10. Raptors

Raptors are barely top 10 team, let alone top 5.

check the standings. i am disagreeing with u. i just meant based on win-loss record. and i wouldnt vote "the raptors have the best collection of assets" either. but it frustrates me that as of Dec 31, Raptors have a top 5 record in the league, and they arent even put up in a poll for be voted on.. but yet we're just lumped in with the likes of brooklyn and chicago and the rest of the league.

valid point jlokine. i don't know what that list is but if it's Gang of Four's list for best assets, i'd disagree. cavaliers will fall off a cliff after lebron leaves, and i think he will after they get worked in another Finals. everything's great now in Cleveland but after another Finals rout the bad feelings will re-emerge. Celtics have awesome assets, though i don't really like the Hayward contract. Thunder on that list?? you're crazy, that franchise will be in a ditch very soon. Wizards are cash-strapped with a core of Wall-Beal-Otto. i wouldn't want that situation at all.

With Lowry and DeRozan leading the way, Toronto has missed the playoffs twice, gotten bounced from the 1st round twice (including being swept by the Wizards), lost in the conference finals, and got swept again in the semifinals last year.... That's a pretty poor track record.

Lowry will be 32 soon and he's already starting to decline. Ibaka and Valanciunas are average at best... and for today's NBA they have pretty limited skill sets.

So who would possibly vote for Toronto as the team with the best collection of assets...?

look, i am not saying that i would vote for toronto with the best collection of assets. you're citing their losses in conference finals and semifinals, both to lebron. they have the 4th best record in the league, they are on pace to win 60 games and keep pace with boston. this "collection of assets" is significantly different from the team that lost in 7 games to brooklyn and the team that lost to the wizards. and mod asked "collection of assets", not just their star players.

and the mod who posted this question didnt even bother to include the raptors as a poll option. that's all i am saying. it's like not even being mentioned in the same breath as a top 10 team in the league, when their record says otherwise. i wouldnt vote for cleveland either cause outside lebron, they dont have anything.

I hate to say this but as good as Toronto is they aren't that good in reguards to being a great team. I forget about them to. why? just we all know there just a team that's good in the regular season and nobody takes them seriously at all. I'm a bulls fan and I thought chi would beat them last night. I have no fear in them at all. matter of fact ill go as far as saying after lavine is back the bulls will never lose to them for a long time. unless a trade which downgrades them happens which is likely. lowry is good. just not good enough. derozen is becoming great, just not great enough. raps just aren't a special team. why cant yall land a top free agent? doesn't someone want to help that team out. like yall are right there if they add I legit superstar to the team

It's actually pretty interesting regarding this Lakers pick. If the Lakers have the worst record it's 75% chance that the Celtics keep the pick, 25% it goes to the Sixers. That would be a wild turn of events.

Hard not to choose Boston. The history/brand of the team, closely followed by the combo of GM Ainge and Coach Stevens are the best assets. With the current roster and the flexibility of four 1st round picks over the next two years they are golden. I wouldn't even be suprised if Lebron wants to reunite there with Kyrie, win a title with Horford, Haywood, Tatum, J.Brown, Rozier. More appealing than joining the Lakers if he wants to add his mark with another chip on a legendary franchise.

I'm not sure about this.

Isaiah Thomas, Crowder, Love, Tristan Thompson is just as good, if not better than the Boston team last year. Trade the Brooklyn Pick for a vet + they're a top 5 team in the east.

Assets aren't the sum total of your stars. Toronto is the eighth youngest team, with only Boston being a team that is younger and having a better record. It doesn't mean that anyone should possibly vote for them, but just because of the youth to record ratio, they deserve to be on the pole.
