Real Madrid overcame a sloppy performance in which they were largely outplayed by Borussia Dortmund with a pair of late goals to win their 15th Champions League in club history.
Dani Carvajal scored in the 74th minute on a header off a corner kick from Toni Kroos, while Vinicius Junior had a clinical finish in the 83rd minute to seal the win for Madrid. Kroos was as reliable as ever throughout in what was the final match of his club career.
Dortmund had a number of strong chances, particularly in the first half, evidenced by their Expected Goals of 1.86 compared to 1.14 for Madrid.
Niclas Fullkrug had a shot go off the post in the first half and a header in the 87th minute that found the back of the net was disallowed for offside.
Dortmund entered the match as massive underdogs, but were the superior side until the final 20 minutes.
A strong Real Madrid club, who have won six of the past 11 Champions League and hasn\'t lost a final since 1981, will be even stronger next season as they add Kylian Mbappe to their roster.
