Manchester United has confirmed the hiring of Ruben Amorim as manager on a contract until 2027 with an option for an additional season. Amorim will begin work with United on November 11th as Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain as interim until then.
Amorim will be in charge of Sporting for their Champions League clash against Manchester City in Lisbon on Tuesday.
United announced the sacking of Erik ten Hag on Monday following the 2-1 defeat to West Ham. United sent a delegation to Lisbon on the same day to inform Sporting they intended to meet the release clause in Amorim\'s contract.
United are set to pay around €10 million ($10.87 million), plus an additional fee of €1m to bring in members of Sporting\'s staff.
