Manchester United is expected to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town if they beat Tottenham Hotspur and win a spot in the Champions League. A loss by United will likely send Delap to Chelsea, who have already guaranteed a spot in Europe and will reach the Champions League if they beat Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
United can afford to sign Delap and Wolves forward Matheus Cunha regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League, the lack of European football in the event of a defeat against Spurs would put Chelsea in pole position for the player.
Manchester City sold Delap to Ipswich last year for an initial £15 million and have a £40 million buy-back option they are not expected to exercise.
