Ruben Amorim Receives $134M Transfer Budget Despite UCL Miss

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu May 22, 2025 5:51 pm

Manchester United lost the Europa League Final to Tottenham Hotspur, which will cost the club at least £80 million in revenue and will leave them without European competition for only the second time in 35 years. But Ruben Amorim will be retained as manager and also be given a transfer budget just under £100 million ($134 million) to rebuild the roster.

Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, Ipswich’s No 9 Liam Delap and a playmaker remain Amorim’s prime targets and the club do not have to sell to buy either. Sir Jim Ratcliffe\'s cuts to other parts of the club have allowed United to withstand the loss of revenue.

United currently sits 16th in the Premier League with 39 points, their worst campaign in over half a century. Amorim\'s preferred back-three system requires significant squad changes in addition to the attacking targets.
