Wenger Expected To Remain But Arsenal Begins Succession Plan

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Mar 25, 2014 7:14 pm

Arsenal expects Arsène Wenger to eventually sign a new contract, but they are already putting together a succession plan.

Wenger's deal expires this season and while talks initially centered on a three-year deal, a two-year extension at £8 million per season is now more likely.

Wenger still enjoys the unequivocal backing of Arsenal’s majority shareholder Stan Kroenke.

Roberto Martinez’s work in his first season at Everton has impressed the Gunners, as has Jurgen Klopp’s reign at last season’s Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund.

Wenger currently has final say on all roster decisions, but Arsenal could implement a two-tier structure with a head coach working under a director of football.
