Man City Accepts $82M Fine, Reduced Squad For Champions League

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 16, 2014 7:59 pm

Manchester City has agreed to pay an $82 million fine while also reducing their squad for the Champions League next season as part of a settlement for violating Financial Fair Play rules.

The European governing body will limit City to 21 available players in their Champions League squad, instead of the standard 25.

City also agreed not to increase their current wage bill for two years, and to "significantly limit spending" in the transfer market, based on a calculation of their "net transfer position."

Should City comply with the regulations over the next two seasons, many of the penalties can be ended, and UEFA will return up to $54.8 million.
