USA-Ghana Watched By Approximately 16M Viewers In United States

The match on Monday between the United States and Ghana was ESPN’s highest-rated men’s soccer match ever, which averaged a 6.3 US HH rating and 11 million viewers, while Univision's broadcast was viewed by an average of 4.8 million people.

It was the highest-rated telecast on ESPN since the BCS National Championship.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC's ratings are up 19% over 2010 to date.

too bad espn wont be broadcasting the 1018 world cup. they are doing an awesome job. fox will probably charge extra for every game

Wonder how this was calculated. Seems like it would be based on households, or TV sets tuning in. Lot of large groups, and every time I go to watch any game (US or not) at a bar it's usually pretty packed with viewers.
