Atlético Madrid and Monaco are attempting to sign Antoine Griezmann from Real Sociedad.
Griezmann has a €30 million release clause, which Monaco is more likely to pay than Atleti.
Monaco could have an influx of cash if they move forward with selling James Rodríguez and Radamel Falcao.
Griezmann took the unusual step of leaving France to join Sociedad's academy at the age of 14. He has been a first-team regular for five seasons, scoring 46 times in 179 Spanish League appearance.
