Mats Hummels has been named captain of Borussia Dortmund, putting an end to rumors that he may be on the move to Manchester United.
Hummels has been a target for Manchester United.
"Mats Hummels will be the new captain of Borussia Dortmund," the club declared on Twitter. "Marco Reus and Roman Weidenfeller will be the alternatives."
Sebastian Kehl had previously been BVB's leader but his advancing years and reduced playing time saw the midfielder step down from the role.
