Thomas Müller rejected an 'astronomical' offer to leave Bayern Munich to sign with Manchester United this summer.
Asked by Bild if United had been close to signing him, Müller said: “Of course. I was aware that I could earn more by making that transfer. The amount that foreign clubs were offering me was astronomical. But Bayern are my club, a change was not an issue for me.”
United is not playing in the Champions League this season, which has been often mentioned as a hinderance in Louis van Gaal's ability to add quality players to the roster.
