Atleti President: Diego Costa Transfer Was 'Rushed'

Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo believes the transfer of Diego Costa to Chelsea was rushed and it didn't result in as much of a financial benefit as has been believed.

“He’s one of the best strikers in the world. His departure was rushed, because he had a moment of weakness in which he couldn’t say no. If that happened right now, he wouldn’t leave,” Cerezo said on Radio4G’s program ‘La Jungla 4.0′.

“The financial side hasn’t been so great for us. We’ve received about 50% of what has been talked about. It was more of a question of the money he would get.”

Cerezo also talked about the departure of Sergio Agüero, who left Atlético in 2011 to join Manchester City.

“Aguero had the opportunity to leave this club as an idol, but he left in a stupid way," Cerezo said, and went on to talk about the possibility of signing former Atlético captain Fernando Torres.

“I don’t know if someone tried to sign him. We’re very much bearing him in mind because he feels Atlético, as he himself has said.”
