The Mirror reports that Liverpool is preparing a new £100,000-per-week contract with a £60 million buyout clause for Raheem Sterling, which the club hopes will stave off interest from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid has been interested in Sterling since at least the World Cup.

Sterling still has three more years remaining on his current deal, but Liverpool’s new deal will see an additional two years added with a  £70,000-a-week pay raise from his current  £30,000-a-week salary.

Not even worth the money. He's a mediocre player on a less than mediocre squad. Real Madrid interested? Not a chance, Zidane said it best. If Real wants someone, they go get him. i.e. James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale. All this Steerling to Real talk is just to boost his value but no chance is he Galatico material.

If you think he is less than a mediocre player then you haven't been really following what he does. His only downfall this season is that he is playing for a **** LFC team...he basically does everything for them.

If he had at Sturridge and ANYONE else on the team give him some type of support he would be put into the category as those other players.

You're telling me he's Galatico material?

Deserving to be put in the same category as the best?

Did you see Steerling play against Real? He crumbled - against the best.

For clarity, Bale got the contract based on his individual performances with the spurs, same with James for Colombia. Liverpool was suppose to be a rebuilding team last year, Suarez changed that fate and landed them a top 3 spot. Now a couple bites later he's on Barcelona.

Steerling is young, probably one of England's better younger talents. In reality though, other than Rooney, Lampard, Gerard. England hasn't produced any TOP TIER talents in a while. Steerling probably wouldn't even make it on the Ivory Coast starting XI if he was from there.
