Agent Jorge Mendes apparently met with Pep Guardiola at a Munich restaurant last week to discuss a potential €40 million deal to send Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane to Bayern Munich.

"It was surprising," said Carlo Ancelotti. "As I did not know Varane's agent was Mendes. I spoke with Varane's agent three days ago, and it was someone else, not Jorge Mendes. So I was surprised. But Varane is a Real Madrid player for a long time."

Varane is one of the more young versatile CB's.

Tactical and can pass the long ball with precision.

40 milly is hefty, though in due time Varane should and would replace Pepe for the next gen.
