Borussia Dortmund continue to discuss a new contract with Mats Hummels, who is signed through 2017.
Hummels has been linked to a transfer to Manchester United.
Hummels said at the weekend that he is leaving his options open, having last week cast uncertainty over his Dortmund future.
Kicker reported that the likelihood of a new Hummels contract could hinge on the direction, rather than the finances, of Dortmund.
