Pep Guardiola has been criticized by several of his former players following his departure from Bayern Munich.
Guardiola told Mehdi Benatia that his experience with Barcelona led him to remain more distant from his players at Bayern Munich.
“He told me once that he left Barcelona disillusioned with the relationship he had with some players, and said: ‘I only do my job, to be coach,’” according to Benatia.
Arjen Robben said Guardiola “is obsessed with football…with Ancelotti there’s more freedom.”
While Benatia said Guardiola lacked communication, Franck Ribery said Guardiola talked too much.
“Guardiola is a young coach with a lack of experience,” said Ribery. “Sometimes he talked too much…football is very simple.”
