Ashley Young would like to open extension talks with Manchester United on a long-term contract.
United holds an option to extend Young's contract until 2019 and would prefer to trigger it before discussing new terms.
Young has emerged as Jose Mourinho's first-choice at left-back.
Young's form earned him a recall to the England squad for friendlies against Germany and Brazil last month and he could be part of Gareth Southgate's 23-man party for next summer's World Cup in Russia.
