SoFi Stadium Field Currently Too Narrow To Host 2026 World Cup Final

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Mar 17, 2023 1:12 pm

SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles was scheduled to host the 2026 World Cup Final, but its field is currently too narrow to comply with FIFA\'s standards.

In order to host matches, seats would have to be removed to widen the field by 60 feet. This would bring the stadium capacity below 70,000, which is on the smaller end for the World Cup.

The 1994 World Cup final was also played in Los Angeles at the Rose Bowl.

If the final is moved, it could be played in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium.

The stadium capacity could be 20 thousand seats yet still more than a billion and a half viewers would tune in so who cares.
