Manchester United is the world\'s most valuable soccer club at a valuation of $5.95 billion, but there are twice as many MLS clubs (18) in the top-50 than the Premier League (9).

LAFC is the most valuable MLS club at $900 million.

The MLS has an average valuation of $582 million with average revenue of $57 million giving it a 10.2 average value-to-revenue multiple.

MLS teams generate a fraction of the revenue of the big clubs and almost all of them are losing money, but they make up more than half of the teams ranked between 16 and 50 by value.

The lack of promotion and relegation in MLS acts as its own kind of scarcity.

MLS owners have it pretty sweet. There's no pro/rel so their investments are safe in a way that many (most?) European teams aren't. Many of them own new, state-of-the-art stadiums. And outside of NY & LA, the rest of the league all have complete control of their own metro areas, many of which dwarf those in Europe. (Case example: England's second-largest market, Birmingham, would roughly tie for 16th in the US, and on top of that there are multiple teams to split eyeballs/$$$.)

So there are a lot of factors beyond the obvious inferiority in quality.
